"This was such a beautifully written book. Very complex, tragic and character driven. There was so much going on with many interest points for me. I can see where some people might think it’s slow or too long, but that played into the character dynamics and plot. The only negative for me was sometimes the authors writing made it hard to understand certain sentences, and I’d have to re-read things for them to make sense to me. For such a large book, I plowed through this in 2 day! Amazing. Never read a book like it. It did remind me a bit of Donna Tartt’s The Goldfinch with the character driven writing and tragic story telling as well as Jennifer Hartman’s stories!"
"It was an interesting story but not one of my favorites "

"There are modern day authors, who seemingly have learned great lessons from wonderful authors of the past: Dickens, Tolstoy, Steinbeck, Twain etc. One such author is Chris Whitaker. I base this assumption on the two books that I’ve read by him: The Colors of the Dark being perhaps the better novel. Well drawn characters buffeted by the troublesome circumstances of their lives such are Patch, Saint, Misty, Grace, Sammy etc. This massive well told story is one that I did not want to end-the sign of a great novel. There are twists and turns and : At times, I thought there were missteps by Mr. Whitaker; I even thought that the novel was perhaps 100 pages too long. However, I changed my mind and I’m glad that I took the journey."

"'All the Colors of the Dark' is a truly captivating story, it's tragic in so many ways and also beautiful in others. Phenomenal writing, this is a literary masterpiece.

This story spans decades of love and loss, tragedy and success. The pacing is slow and very character driven however the short chapters make it an easy page turner.

Please do not sabotage your enjoyment of this book by expecting a fast-paced thriller, this is not that. It is infact, so much more.

For fans of 'Where the Crawdads Sing' and 'All the Ugly and Wonderful Things'"
"Too long. Could be cut in half. But the ending was great.
Girls keep getting kidnapped. Then Patch gets kidnapped and is with a girl named Grace.
Eventually escapes.
Dr. Tooms and Eli Aaron are blamed. Dr. Tooms goes to jail (but he is innocent) Gave abortions to girls. Then Eli Aaron would kill them for sinning. Eli on the run.
Patch finds Grace. Eli is Grace’s dad. "
