"OK it didn't really answer the questions of the first book. And it was even more confusing story this time; hard for me to follow. So it's really only a 2.5 bc it got worse rather than better."

"Once again, a slasher is thinning out the population of Proofrock. Never fear, Jade has just been released from prison (that whole 4th of July thing) and has returned to town just in time.
I still don't know my slasher films well enough to truly understand all of the connections. The characters are awesome, though. If you have the stomach for a gory slasher trope will kick a$$ female characters (and pretty cool guys, too), this book is for you."
"Way better than book #1. Where the first book I felt like went on in random rants that seemed more like the author bragging about his knowledge of horror as opposed to telling a story, this book actually follows a good story line from the get go. It's also action packed and an actual who done it, where the 1st book you had to read like 200 pages about a teenager feeling sorry for herself and being mad at the world before you even got to anything good"

"I preordered this book and then proceeded to not read it for months. "Chainsaw" had what I consider the perfect ending and it was hard to imagine what a sequel could bring to the table. Now that I've finished the book I regret not giving it a chance earlier.

While Jade is still the star of the show, this book expands to show other characters' POV, and all of these characters just feel so perfectly human. One of the early victims' internal monologue stuck with me for the entire rest of the book. There are a lot of moving parts and things going on in the book, but somehow it all slots together in a way where you couldn't take any of it out.

I really loved this. Fantastic sequel."

"Jade, now Jennifer Daniels, returns in the sequel to My Heart Is A Chainsaw. A few years after her senior year, Jennifer returns to Proofrock, Idaho. On that very day, a serial killer escapes police custody. As the bodies start piling up, Jennifer must rely on Jade's knowledge of slasher to stop the murder spree.

From page one to the final page you're flipping the pages furiously to see what happens. The characters are all great as well. If you liked My Heart Is a Chainsaw, then you definitely need to read this installment of the trilogy. Note: You MUST read Chainsaw before you read this one. Otherwise, you'll be lost. I can't wait for book three to come out!

My thanks to Gallery Books, Gallery/Saga Press, author Stephen Graham Jones, and NetGalley for gifting me a digital copy of this book. My opinions are my own."

"If this book was a movie it would be the first horror movie sequel that is better than the original. I love how this book played out and I am more in love with Jade than I ever was before. This book plays off of traditional horror movie tropes for sequels: There is more blood, there is more destruction and there are a lot of bodies. This book takes place four years after the original, when Jade finally returns to town. The current batch of high schoolers are being murdered using kill patterns from well known scary movies and a serial killing legend is loose in town during a snow storm. With a new final girl in place Jade and Letha simply have to make sure everyone is in the right place at the right time... or so they think. This book has quite a few twists up its sleeves and keeps the reader sufficiently surprised by what happens. This book also gives the reader a chance to see the character development in a few of the OG characters which makes them more 3 dimensional and less annoying high schoolers. The bond between Letha and Jade has grown and it makes you feel the 90's "girl power" movement never really died. They have a bond forged in blood and hearts made of steel. As with chainsaw, the love of scary movies (slashers in particular) oozes from the page. If you were not a scary movie nerd like myself this book might send you down a rabbit hole to see what everyone in the book seems to be talking about. This book is definitely going to resonate more with fans of slasher movies and horror books than it will with people who are just following the buzz.

Thank you to NetGalley and Gallery/Saga Press for the opportunity to read this book early and thank you Stephen Graham Jones for spreading your love of all things scary with the world in such an amazing way. Can't wait for book 3!!!"
"The second book in the Indian Lake Trilogy did not disappoint. In fact, I think I enjoyed this read better than the first.

Jade Daniels, now going by Jennifer, returns to Proofrock after spending the past 4 years in prison due to the infamous events that people call the 4th of July massacre. Right when she returns, a convicted serial kill named Dark Mill South escapes his prison transfer convoy right near Proofrock during an intense blizzard. Jade (or Jennifer) is thrown right back into the world of slashers and will have to use her vast knowledge of horror movies that she's tried to forget to save her and the others in this town. But as before, Proofrock and Indian Lake are never quite what they seem.

First, I want to say that if you are a fan of horror movies, especially slashers, at the very least you'll appreciate the vast knowledge Stephen Graham Jones includes in this series. It's a dream for horror aficionados - I even wrote quite a view titles down that I wasn't familiar with.

While I enjoyed the first book, it was exhausting being inside Jade's head the whole time. Sometimes it was hard figuring out what was fact and what was just in Jade's head. I very much enjoyed how this book jumped between narrators. While it may seem confusing (and could be at times) I felt like I had a better understanding of what was going on. It also really allowed me to get a sense of just how impactful the Lake Killings of 4 years prior were to the town and people in it as a whole. The amount of characters are a lot, however, each one serves an important purpose and helped the many moving parts of this book to come together. This book also solidified my love for both Jade and Letha.

Overall, I highly recommend this horror series. To fully appreciate Don't Fear the Reaper I recommend reading the first book My Heart is a Chainsaw first."
""Don't Fear the Reaper" by Stephen Jones follows a girl following her towns serial killer.

I would give "Don't Fear the Reaper" by Stephen Jones a 2-star review because, the idea was interesting but the actual reading failed me."
