"This was a pretty good psychological thriller with an unreliable narrator, but at times, the story was a bit confusing. That may have just been me; I don't know. <br/><br/>This book is mainly about a ****** up family. Almost all of the family members are toxic people, and they are focused on manipulating and ruining one another. <br/><br/>I think this book's strongest point was several comments that were made on woman and mental illness. There's an understanding in this book that I haven't seen many other books provide, and I appreciated it. I don't know much about narcissistic personality disorder, which is the prominent disorder discussed in this book, but the descriptions of the depression that Cass & Emma dealt with were spot-on. <br/><br/>Cass consistently talks about people who have a scream inside of them, and I really connected with that when she explained it. The only other authors who have made me feel that way are Sylvia Plath, Joan Didion, and Anne Sexton, and all of them focus a decent portion of their writing on women and mental illnesses. <br/><br/>This book had so many good description of being a teenager - particularly burning jealousy. Walker captured it all so well. <br/><br/>I did guess the final twist pretty early on, but that's okay. It was still a fun journey to get there. I will definitely read another Wendy Walker book, and I have All is Not Forgotten on my shelf now.
