In an underwater city, a young girl takes care of a large egg she holds carefully in her arms – a treasure that she believes is an angel's egg. One day, a boy with a gun arrives in search of a bird he saw in his dream and, at first, it seems as if feelings of sympathy are developing between the two.

"Like the animation a lot. It’s a post apocalyptic setting and you could tell. It is such a quiet film you notice things you wouldn’t in say a action movie. Every sound is like a slow melody. I could see how from software got inspired. It shares things like not just force feeding you the story. Sad world that doesn’t have much survivors. I love the voices their so soothing more than any other game(like the doll). I love that this movie makes you want to seek out and find out more about the story."
"One of the most beautiful and haunting movies I've ever seen. There's little dialogue and nothing but symbolism. Despite the audible quiet, it is, in my experience, very heavy and mentally and emotionally active. It can be mildly disturbing to some, and more disturbing to those who are not fans of or used to the style or themes of the images presented. The silence itself can be dizzying, also."
"A great movie for people who are overwhelmed with the drop dead pace of Mitazaki's work.
Honestly tho, this movie is gorgeous. I love the **** out of Amano and a whole movie in his art style is a visual joy! Of course, there's a reason anime isn't done like this. This movie has a lot of still frames and no action and it still took forever to animate. I'm glad this exists though. It is a beautiful film."
