"3.5⭐️ I really did not expect too much from ANOTHER SIMPLE FAVOR but watched for the expected summery Capri vistas, maybe some splashy glamour and fairly mind-bending fashion (Blake’s wardrobe does NOT disappoint), and hopefully lots of saucy Italian tunes. Mostly it delivers. This IS a feast for the eyes in all respects! The story flippant and frivolous, no surprise. The depth kinda Hallmark level with darker subject matter of course, and edgier.. twistier.. nudie-er (did I make that word up lol)
Don’t get me wrong, I will watch a third just for Anna and Blake’s off the chart chemistry, their supremely *beyond* frenemy dynamic and snark riddled repartee. Though wish it delivered more on the music. I thought there would be more of an attempt to match an Italian version of A SIMPLE FAVOR’s flirty French vibe, which added an alluring fun element and set the perfect playful yet glamorous tone to offset the black themes and lighthearted cheesiness. I even made a Spotify playlist to recreate the mood (ok I’ll share lol ~ *Paris Afternoon*)
While I did find this sequel totally watchable, it gets a bit overcooked towards the end and a weird ick factor is thrown in the mix. However that last part does make sense in bringing about a certain change in dynamic .. but still 😬
So yeah, just some good unwholesome fun 😆🔪☠️💉"
"My wife and I really enjoyed the first one, so we were excited to see this sequel. Sadly, it wasn't as good as the original. To put it simply, they tried to do too much. I can appreciate the setting, the island of Capri is a stunning location, but about half way through things begin to get too convoluted with the story. It's still funny and has that same biting wit in the dialogue, but the mystery and intrigue felt forced and completely lost the vibe from the original. It's still a fun watch, it just lost some of its mojo. 7/10"
