Elaine "Ellie" Harrison has just moved from Minnesota to Annapolis, Maryland while her parents take a year-long sabbatical to continue their medieval studies in nearby Washington D.C. Her new high school, Avalon High, seems like a typical high school with the stereotypical students: Lance the jock, Jennifer the cheerleader, Marco, the bad boy/desperado, and Will, the senior class president, quarterback, and all around good guy. But not everyone at Avalon High is who they appear to be, not even Ellie herself. Eventually, it becomes apparent that Avalon High is a situation where the ancient Arthurian legend is repeating itself.

"I really do love this movie. It's a neat twist on the tale that brings it to the modern day.
The dialogue feels so realistic, especially for the plot that it's portraying. Especially between our teen characters. It doesn't matter which character is talking with who, the dialgoue feels right. I'm not always saying the moments are, but the chemistry between the characters works incredibly well. And the dialogue between them expresses that.
As for our main lead. She's so much fun to watch. As an actress, I've seen her in other things, so I automatically like her, but she also plays her character exceptionally well. She embodies that spunky vibe we need from the girl piecing everything together for our viewers. Plus moments that would normally make me cringe, writing that just asks for you to turn your head away she plays off naturally. It's honestly shocking to me how it happens. Even in the cliche moment where you say too much to someone that anyone would cringe at, I watched her character slip up then tide things over in a smooth and realistic motion. That moment alone gained my respect (I won't spoil, but you'll know when you see it).
Now the story. I love it! I'm already a sucker for Camelot, but getting a modern retelling of it, with a fantasy spin is too perfect! Ugh, I truly do love it. Don't get me wrong some will find annoyance in the way it has to show those Camelot roots, but I was happy to be there for every single moment.
Overall, I can watch this movie anytime, as in when I go to pick a movie, If I can't find anything else, I will play this one. It's not a movie I have to be in the mood to watch, I can just watch it. I love the characters and the plot, and I want more. When I watched it as a kid I hoped beyond all hope it would get a tv show. When it didn't, I was crushed. Heck I'm still crushed. But I will always have this movie to enjoy whenever I please. And I just happen to want that a lot."

"The absolute best DCOM. The writing is hysterical (because it’s super ironic), the plot is insane and so much more complicated than other DCOMs but it works, the romance is perfection and the costumes and editing are both beautiful in their own right. I am so mad that not everyone has seen this master piece because it is truly the best dcom. Yes, the way they used the story of Camelot was not always 100% accurate, but the foreshadowing of the character’s modern names reflecting their role in the reincarnation story and how that whole thing goes down is just absolute beauty. If you think the writing is bad, think again. The writing is IRONIC AND HYSTERICAL. THE ACTING PERFORMANCES LIKEWISE ARE COMEDIC GOLD. The best shot in Disney channel history was Will running away after doing the push up thing with Allie next to the school because he does little butterfly kicks and it’s so funny because all you can think is “how is this kid the quarter back.” His accent is also super funny. This movie is unmatched. Bring these back. Please watch this. "
