"Nicole Kidman is Romy, who has few problems- one of which is she is unsatisfied with sex with her husband. This movie explores the complicated motivations of a mid life woman who has achieved recognized success at work and in her own life and can’t identify how to seek fulfillment. A younger man has the answer if she is willing . . ."
"Babygirl (2024) - ★½
A24’s Babygirl is an infuriating letdown that assaults you from the jump—sex sounds over the A24 logo? Wildly off-putting. Nicole Kidman’s Romy, a CEO cheating on her husband, Jacob (Antonio Banderas), with a cocky intern, Samuel (Harris Dickinson), is a trainwreck I couldn’t root for. Seeing Banderas, always the suave hero, cuckolded by some white kid half his age? Drake voice “Embarrassing “. Both leads are despicable, the soft-P***vibes are cringe, and some scenes were so awkward I nearly bolted. Kidman’s gutsy at 56, but why this role? This was painful to sit through, and I’m still asking, “What the hell did I watch?” One star for her commitment, half for the sheer nerve."

"I was always a huge fan of Nicole Kidman and still find her acting superb, her movies were strong with a plot and a story to them - what happened all of a sudden?? after her weak show ExPats and this absolute ridiculous movie, I think she needs to reconsider taking on any movies for a while. "

I think the awkwardness of the characters makes the whole thing more human, emphasizes that it isn't just a pwp fanfic (though there wasn't much real plot until the last 25 minutes or so). Overall I did like the movie and I'll certainly enjoy the fanfics it inspires though I truly think this may be a one time watch movie."
