"Absolutely loved it! Entertaining to the fullest, I was remarkably surprised at how heartfelt it appeared and not to mention the out of the box approach it took in terms of starting the film, going straight to the action and never letting go while also allowing the audience to keep track of what is happening. The screenplay was easily the MVP, fleshing out the characters (particularly Lex Luthor) on top of tying it to modern events remarkably well. This was paired with fantastic performances, from Nicolas Hoult (who was clearly the MVP and having the time of his life playing Lex Luthor (reminded me in many ways of the late great Gene Hackman’s approach to the character from the 1978 classic)), along with David Corenswet (who plays both Superman and Clark Kent remarkably well), Rachel Brosnahan and more. One of the best of the year IMO. Very highly recommended both for its timeliness and entertainment value."

"4.5 A powerhouse ! This was a fun and thrilling ride! As an avid Superman fan this is a great addition to the Superman legacy! The characters were fun, the fight scenes were awesome, and comics were alive throughout this film! This film will make you believe in good and that you can fly. "
"- Of all the Superman movies and shows this is the one iteration that managed to be too on the nose with every message, theme, and character choice. Their motivations and relatable characteristics are told to us more than they're shown, wearing every value, even subconscious ones, on their sleeves. I don't know how much this movie ties in with whatever universe it is a part of, but I got the impression that I was missing valuable information that would help fill out the world a little better. The movie itself starts in the middle of what would be the middling arc of the plot in another movie, and never quite finds its footing along the way. We are brought into it by skipping over the usual Superman elements, like his origin and introduction to the public. The relationship between him and Lois is already established, both as Superman and Clark Kent. There is no identity reveal, and some key characters like Ma and Pa Kent are peripheral to the overall story instead of key characters. I admire the choice to not revisit the traditional things, but the challenge is in establishing new ground and narrative flow to the story; something that I don't think it does very well. A lot of it feels randomly introduced and, while I can get into a movie where the characters are familiar with each other, when it suggests that I, as a viewer, should know them, that becomes a problem. Add to that the monologuing from not only the villain of the movie, but the hero as well, and it just comes across as lazy storytelling. As a result the movie feels flat, which doesn't help when the action goes on autopilot. There was a lot to mine in this material, and it felt too surface level for my liking.
+ The themes and allusions to Superman and our current immigrant issues are relevant, and Gun's message about kindness is sorely missing in today's movies. It goes for the heart, even if it does miss the mark. The casting is good, if under utilized, and the approach to the story was a risk. "
"This was SUPERfun!
🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣
Personally I had a blast watching this! It was fun, funny, action-packed, had a flying dog, featured a SUPERGIRL cameo…like I’m a simple girl! This is my kinda stuff! Trying really hard to write my review and formulate my thoughts before I read the other reviews so I can avoid changing my own review or rating at ALL COSTS. I’m like far too impressionable for this app LOLOL but I’m saying it right here right now I had a lot of fun watching this! Mr. Fantastic was so cool and smooth I loved him!!! And this goes without saying but Lois is fine as hell #needthat!!! And give it up for Philly’s own Mr. Corenswet!!!! GO BIRDSSSSS💚🦅

"Guardians of the Galaxy but with Superman. I don’t mind that since I love Superman movies and I loved Guardians of the Galaxy. You can just tell James Gunn is the writer though when more than one character says “dude!”
Superman is an entertaining ride that will touch you emotionally as well. The movie is a ton of fun.
Though Lex Luther in this may remind you a little of Mysterio in Spider-Man Far From Home with his group science geek allies. Nicholas Hoult at least finally made me not say “Lex again ?” Since I’ve waited so long to see villains like Brainiac.
Holly’s Lex feels the most comic accurate since Michael Rosenbaum in Smallville. Though Snyder fans would disagree and say Jesse Eisenberg channeling Jim Carrey’s Riddler. Was the most the comic accurate.
David Corenswet makes a charming Superman. We just don’t always get enough him facing a bad guy alone. He gets a little too much help.
The movie just doesn’t leave us begging for more. Like it needed to tease Brainiac or something. It is one of the only movies in awhile I do feel like seeing again at the theater however."
