"This movie is pretty funny because it was clearly written with a separate game in mind, if I were to guess I'd say Resident Evil. However, at some point during production they received some sort of deal to promote Doom 3. So, the two teens will reference things that happen in "(their) favorite game" Doom 3, like a scene involving a crypt, that definitely didn't happen in Doom 3 which famously takes place on Mars."
