"This is a cute Hallmark T.V. movie filmed in Savannah , Georgia, about a mousy woman, Mary, played with great restraint by Elizabeth Montgomery. She is a demure and sheltered woman who wants to live a much louder life after the death of her father. She decides to join a small circus 🎪 🤡, led by Master of Ceremonies, Duke, or Christopher Plummer, playing a brash American. Eileen Brennan plays the role of Jessy, his loyal friend. Tommy Madden gives a remarkable performance as a clown who has unrequited love for a member of the Circus. The movie featured the real circus performers The Stabbing Royal European Circus. No animals were used during any of the performances for the entire movie, but were very briefly shown in a cage, mostly when it was being cleaned. Interestingly, Robert Halmi, Jr was the associate producer of this movie. He has gone on to a marvelous career, producing over 100 popular movies and miniseries for TV, many of which I have adored for years. Some notable examples are Cleopatra and Dreamkeeper, and Arabian Nights. "
