"This movie is absolutely hilarious!! It is a strange hybrid of romantic dark comedy, musical, and a little bit of horror mixed in. This movie is definitely being advertised as a "chick flick," but that doesn't mean that everyone can't enjoy it. The plot is about a woman named Laura Franco, played by Melissa Barrera, an actress and singer, who really sang in the movie, as did all of the other actors, during the rehearsal of a musical stage play that is supposed to "make" her career. During all of the turmoil in her life, Laura meets the monster that lives under her bed, played with relish by Tommy Dewey. It is so absurd, but the plot unfolds in a comical way that held my attention all the way through. Laura has a fractured relationship with narcissist Jacob Sullivan, played by Edmund Donovan, and a self-absorbed best friend, Mazie Silverberg, played annoyingly well by Kayla Foster. The rhythm of the storyline swung back and forth between dysfunction and light-hearted comedy, with some uneasiness in between, but I enjoyed it for that reason. This movie really is unique. "
"As much as I like the concept of this movie, it didn’t really hit the mark for me. There’s something missing from it that I’m not sure I can name exactly that and the marketing of this movie lead me to believe that it was something else entirely but what it actually could of been really cool if done more tightly. I will say as someone who recently got out of a bad relationship this movie was able to get me in the feels at time and smacked me in the face with the reality of my situation so that I can appreciate! "This movie, in short, was a sweet, unexpected rom-com turned horror flick in an unexpected twist. I vastly enjoyed this movie!!! It was not a high budget movie by any means, but the dialog and acting were truly amazing!!! I'm a HUGE fan of any movie that has a "beauty and the beast" vibe, and this movie definitely had that vibe!!! It made me think of "Lisa Frankenstein," too, and I truly adore that movie. If you enjoy horror comedy movies that are more on the "fluffy" side, then this is definitely worth a watch!!! I loved the messages that the movie was expressing!!! Women go through so much, and we are expected to carry on. What happens when we are pushed too far for too long?"
"I went into this movie just to kill some time. Not knowing what I was getting myself into, but I have to say I’m happy I went. This modern take of beauty and the beast with themes of revenge, coming out of your shell, and even mental illness was all a great formula for this incredible romcom."
