Chloe Neill
The first Chicagoland Vampires novel from New York Times bestselling author Chloe Neill. Sure, the life of a graduate student wasn't exactly glamorous, but it was Merit's. She was doing fine until a rogue vampire attacked her. But he only got a sip before he was scared away by another bloodsucker and this one decided the best way to save her life was to make her the walking undead. Turns out her savior was the master vampire of Cadogan House. Now she's traded sweating over her thesis for learning to fit in at a Hyde Park mansion full of vamps loyal to Ethan Lord o the Manor Sullivan. Of course, as a tall, green-eyed, four-hundred-year-old vampire, he has centuries' worth of charm, but unfortunately he expects her gratitude--and servitude. But an inconvenient sunlight allergy and Ethan's attitude are the least of Merit's concerns. Someone's still out to get her. Her initiation into Chicago's nightlife may be the first skirmish in a war...and there will be blood.

"Okay so... In every book I read I am able to tell who the bad guy is before the big reveal. Now as you can imagine that can get kind of annoying. In this book I wasn't able to do that. You would think that would make me happy but it didn't. Because the book was terrible in the form of a mystery.

Really the main character Merit never really does anything to look in to her would-be murderer. All she does is try to deal with the transition form Human to Vampire. There is no mystery on who it is because it seems she doesn't care. And only at the very end, I'm talking the last 25 pages, does it even come up and matter to her.

Really kinda pathetic. But it made me chuckle a more than a few times so I'll give it... two stars."
"Super slow."

"Some Girls Bite (Chicagoland Vampires series) by Chloe Neill *****/*****
#Libby #AnyPLay #Reviews

Triggers:
Troupes: Urban Fantasy, Paranormal Romance, Enemies to Lovers

SPOILERS POSSIBLE

The Chicagoland Vampires series is one of my all time favorite UF series. This is one of the few series that has aged well for me. When I first read this book back in 2011 I loved it but kind of lost track of it for a few years then I reread it in 2014, 2017, and about a dozen times since 2018. For the most part books I’ve reread that many times lose something over time but this one doesn’t. Each time I read this series I fall a little more in love with all of the characters. Each time I reread these books I feel all of the feels and enjoy all of the trials that Merit and Ethan go through to get their HEA.

Some Girls Bite is one of my favorites tbh, I enjoy spending most of the book either frustrated with Merit for being so angry with Ethan or frustrated with Ethan for being so arrogant. I do wish that Merit’s split personalities would get their **** together sooner but that could just be a me thing. The sword play in this series is spectacular and I always enjoy the battle scenes when Ethan and Merit work together. The way Ethan and Merit really do complete each other is so prettily done in this series.

My Favorite thing about Merit is that she is one of the few heroines who gets to combine her book intelligence with her ass kicking tendencies. More often than not before the big battles she's in the library researching instead of just pulling solutions out of her ass. (PS her tendency to dog ear pages is atrocious especially for someone who was a lit major) I also really enjoy that she never lets Ethan get away with the master BS. Ethan changes over time for the better and I love that! (Who says you can't teach old dogs new tricks) I am not a big fan of Mallory and her character growth but I guess we had to do something with her.

The main thing I will say about the later books is that Morgan never ******* changes and is still the whinny little bitch he started out to be. Honestly I would have preferred he get killed off but alas he doesn't.

Ebook: https://www.amazon.com/Some-Girls-Bite-Chicagoland-Vampires-ebook/dp/B001TMCF1U/ref=tmm_kin_swatch_0?_encoding=UTF8&qid=1637580789&sr=8-1
Audiobook: https://www.audible.com/pd/Some-Girls-Bite-Audiobook/B004H2MTXS?qid=1637580798&sr=1-1&ref=a_search_c3_lProduct_1_1&pf_rd_p=83218cca-c308-412f-bfcf-90198b687a2f&pf_rd_r=D816DMJMRS8T1GEZ0YQG
Author’s Website: http://www.chloeneill.com/
Goodreads:
"
