"If you like well-written, creative, depressing stories, especially with Asian themes, you've found your author. I was pretty sad reading most of these and I DNF'd the last one. Glad it's over. Probably won't read anymore original works from Liu. The only one I would actually recommend is The Waves.

The Bookmaking Habits of Select Species - 2.5/5 interesting, but not much of a story
State Change -3.5/5 enjoyed it but it didn't make any sense
The Perfect Match - 4/5 sort of a modern 1984. Kind of fun.
Good Hunting - 3/5 well-written but would have been better in a longer format, i.e., needed more character development
The Literomancer -3.5/5 good story but depressing
Simulacrum - 2.5/5 fine
The Regular - 3.5/5 good detective story.
The Paper Menagerie - 4/5 I cried.
An Advanced Readers’ Picture Book of Comparative Cognition - 3.5/5 interesting but could get invested.
The Waves - 5/5 liked everything about it.
Mono No Aware - 4 very good.
All the Flavors - 4.5/5. This one is especially difficult to rate because it's literary fiction, which I don't really care for. But it is an excellent, well-written story.
A Brief History of the Trans-Pacific Tunnel - 4/5. Well-written, interesting, sad story.
The Litigation Master and the Monkey King - 3.5/5 Well-written, sad story
The Man Who Ended History: A Documentary - DNF for graphic sexual and gruesome violence"
"Lots of unique & innovative sci-fi & fantasy stories"
