ArmentroutEnter the brutal and elite world of a war college for dragon riders from New York Times bestselling author Rebecca YarrosTwenty-year-old Violet Sorrengail was supposed to enter the Scribe Quadrant, living a quiet life among books and history. Now, the commanding general—also known as her tough-as-talons mother—has ordered Violet to join the hundreds of candidates striving to become the elite of Navarre: dragon riders. But when you’re smaller than everyone else and your body is brittle, death is only a heartbeat away...because dragons don’t bond to “fragile” humans. Even worse, Violet begins to suspect leadership is hiding a terrible secret.Friends, enemies, lovers. Everyone at Basgiath War College has an agenda—because once you enter, there are only two ways out: graduate or die.The Empyrean series is best enjoyed in order.Reading Order:Book #1 Fourth WingBook #2 Iron Flame

""Fly... Or Die," most definitely captures the essence of this incredible novel!!! I could barely put it down!!! Every page took my breath away and left me wanting more!!! The plot, characters, and setting are simply marvelous and beyond engaging!!! I'm on the edge of my seat, ready to read more and more, and feel like it will not be enough to quench my need to learn more about this mesmerizing word and its inhabitants!!! This novel is pure untapped adventure rooted in strength and love!!! I can not wait to start the next book and every book that follows in this series!!! I can not recommend this book enough!!! Read it ASAP!!! If you love fantasy books, this is for sure a MUST read!!!"
"I get why this book is so popular and deservingly so. It is exactly what every fantasy reader wants; excellent world-building, high action, and of course dragons among other mythical creatures. I thought the main character, Violet, was well-written and a hero I wanted to root for.
Not many books keep me on my toes like this one did. The plot was perfectly paced. I think I even gave an audible “oooo” at the very end of the book because the cliffhanger was that good. I kept wanting to read and when I did put the book down, I spent most of my time thinking about it.
I did have two main problems with this book that prevented me from giving a full five star rating. The first being the amount of F bombs. An author that can beautifully create a whole different world should not need to use the F word 4 to 5 times A PAGE. It took away from the brilliance of the characters and felt lazy. Second, the explicit sex scenes were extremely graphic. It’s unfortunate that our culture demands this in order to sell books when in reality I think this book was good enough that it could’ve been successful without.
Will I read the sequel? Probably.
4/5 stars"

"This was a great book, but not 5 stars just because I’m really not into fantasy, dragons, and magic. Really love the enemies to lovers storyline and the twist at the end was awesome. I do feel it was a little long and I guess it makes sense to have to learn the magic world, but I struggled through parts of that just because I don’t care about most of that stuff. I’ll definitely be finishing the series - it was worth the long read."
