"I read this on vacation when I was about fourteen, and absolutely loved it. It stuck in my memory so vividly that when I received my Kindle I immediately went searching for it again to buy. It was actually the first book that I PURCHASED for my Kindle. The second read at age 27 did not disappoint in the slightest. It was just as good as I remembered it, and I was surprised how much of the book I still recalled. A wonderful story with realistic child characters, an intense study of brother relationships, and civil rights issues, this is just a wonderful book overall. It deals with a lot of deep issues but manages to keep the child and teenager characters realistic. Also at times really funny and others, heartbreaking."

"This book was pretty ok. It felt like the feeling you get on a Saturday morning in the middle of summer where you’re kind of bored but you don’t want to say that because that means you want to go back to school. And you don’t want to go back to school. <br/>Idk that’s just the vibe I get when I think of this book."
