Paul Cornell
New construction disrupts the dark forces within a rural English village in this “beautifully written, perfectly cruel, and ultimately kind” horror novella (Seanan McGuire, World Fantasy Award-winning author of Every Heart a Doorway). The villagers in the sleepy hamlet of Lychford are divided. A supermarket wants to build a major branch on their border. Some welcome the employment opportunities, while some object to the modernization of the local environment.Judith Mawson (local crank) knows the truth—that Lychford lies on the boundary between two worlds, and that the destruction of the border will open wide the gateways to malevolent beings beyond imagination. But if she is to have her voice heard, she’s going to need the assistance of some unlikely allies. In Witches of Lychford, Paul Cornell blends otherworldly terror and quotidian life in the Cotswalds.

"I went to college in a small town, and I feel like Cornell did an amazing job capturing what it is like living in one. This is my first fae inspired book I have read and it has always intrigued me. I love the same squad, specifically Autumn. I loved learning more about all of their backgrounds but wanted to learn more about the magic. Excited to read the rest of the series "
"This had some witching, which is what I was looking for, so I can’t complain! It was short and light on plot, but I did like the characters. I love reading this kind of story around this time of year, so this hit the notes I read it for."
