Curvy accountants aren't supposed to get happily-ever-afters... Are they? An accountant by day, a popular romance bookstagrammer by night, I dream of my own happy ending. So when my boyfriend says he loves me, I'm ecstatic. I'm closer to my own happily ever after. Cue the wedding epilogue! But no. Three months later, he takes me to a romantic restaurant on my birthday, dumps me and evicts me from our home to make room for his fitness influencer girlfriend! Thankfully, my best friend's brother, Nicholas Lasker, offers to let me crash at his gorgeous mansion. I return the favor by pretending to be his girlfriend to stop his baby-crazed Hollywood parents from sending him models to knock up-wait a minute... Did I just fall into a romance novel? A hot cinnamon-roll billionaire whose smile makes my belly flip-check. His gorgeous library, full of books, completely at my disposal-check. A beautiful home where all the chores are done for me so I can curl up guilt-free with a good read-or with Nicholas every evening-check. When he bids five million dollars at a charity auction to win a dinner with me, our relationship starts to become all too real. This straight-out-of-a-romance-novel situation seems too good to be true. I'm just a curvy accountant. How can I measure up to the stunning socialites he's used to? Can a woman like me really pull off forever with my best friend's brother? "Ugh, it was good until it wasn't. It felt like a dirty Hallmark movie until the third act break up, then it gives an ick feeling. The FMC is an abuse survivor and has years of mental and emotional trauma that she hasn't dealt with, MMC thinks his love is all she needs to heal. She goes through something traumatic and leans on her BFF, because females protecting females and being their for your best friend of 15+ years is a thing you do when guys are gross and creepy and don't listen to consent. What you don't do is shed 20+ years of trauma and abuse from your dad and oodles and oodles of ****** experiences with ex boyfriends and lean on your new boyfriend who literally love bombs you to a point where you are uncomfortable. The truly astonishing thing is, she goes through trauma, he gets upset, he gets coddled by everyone, his family treats her like **** and she ultimately says, "you're right to be upset with me and ignore me for a week while I tried to reach out and talk to you, I should have called you right away after the SA and not retreated into a coping mechanism I developed when I was 6 and never got therapy for; marry me?" It could have had 7 stars, but you get 5/10.
