“[A] highly entertaining literary thriller about fine art and foolish choices.” —Parade “[A] nimble mystery.” —The New York Times Book Review “Gripping.” —O, The Oprah Magazine Almost twenty-five years after the infamous art heist at the Isabella Stewart Gardner Museum—still the largest unsolved art theft in history—one of the stolen Degas paintings is delivered to the Boston studio of a young artist. Claire Roth has entered into a Faustian bargain with a powerful gallery owner by agreeing to forge the Degas in exchange for a one-woman show in his renowned gallery. But as she begins her work, she starts to suspect that this long-missing masterpiece—the very one that had been hanging at the Gardner for one hundred years—may itself be a forgery. The Art Forger is a thrilling novel about seeing—and not seeing—the secrets that lie beneath the canvas.

"This book is decadent detailed and thought provoking. My heart was actually racing as I read the climax! Perfect for bath tub and glass of red wine and candles"

"As the daughter of an artist, and lover of art in general, I was fascinated by this novel. My father was primarily a decoy carver, although he did do some flat work. Throughout his career, many people asked his opinion on whether certain decoys were authentic. While the art world depicted in The Art Forger is much more elite and renown than the art world I have had experience with, it still struck home.

The Claire/Markel story didn't seem as developed as it could have been...it felt, at least to me, as a bit of an afterthought. I enjoyed reading about Belle Gardner, and her eccentricities. I actually googled the paintings mentioned in the book (the ones that actually exist, that is) so I could visualize them as I read."

"If you're looking for an interesting story line and a quick read this is the book for you. It doesn't have the prose as The Goldfinch but it's entertaining like a TV movie. Keep an open mind and I'm pretty sure you will like it."
