Julie James
There's something about the New York Times bestselling Julie James... FATE HAS THROWN TWO SWORN ENEMIES...Of all the hotel rooms rented by all the adulterous politicians in Chicago, female Assistant U.S. Attorney Cameron Lynde had to choose the one next to 1308, where some hot-and-heavy lovemaking ends in bloodshed. And of all the FBI agents in Illinois, it had to be Special Agent Jack Pallas who gets assigned to this high-profile homicide. The same Jack Pallas who still blames Cameron for a botched crackdown three years ago—and nearly ruining his career……INTO EACH OTHER'S ARMSWork with Cameron Lynde? Are they kidding? Maybe, Jack thinks, this is some kind of welcome-back prank after his stint away from Chicago. But it’s no joke: the pair is going to have to put their rocky past behind them and focus on the case at hand. That is, if they can cut back on the razor-sharp jibes—and smother the flame of their sizzling-hot sexual tension…

"I am re-reading this series this week and so far I am really enjoying it. Its been a hot minute since I read a attorney book and I had forgotten how much I really love the drama and danger in them. There is just something about Julie James writing that I really like, maybe it's the perfect balance between romance and risk... One of the things that I love about Julie James's books is that even though some of them aren't officially a part the FBI/US Attorney series they are all still connected in some small way. The main reason I love Julie James's books is that she does a great job at creating a strong female lead in her stories.

This book follows Assistant U.S. Attorney Cameron Lynde and Special Agent Jack Pallas as they recover from their rocky start and work together to take down the bad guys. I love the slight hate to love troupe in this story. The hate doesn't last long and is mostly just a reaction due to their instalust for each other and a bad encounter at the beginning of the book as they both try to deflect their emotions for each other.

I loved this book book. It was really enjoyable and funny with a side of hot and steamy. The chemistry between Cameron and Jack was off the charts. It was the perfect combination of glowering and stolen kiss. The fighting and bickering in the beginning is basically fore play and I love it. We learn who the killer is pretty early on but there is still a lot of suspense. I love the few chapters we get from the killer's POV. It kind of thrusts us back into the danger every time reminding the audience that this isn't just a romance.

I look forward to reading the rest of her books. Unfortunately Julie James hasn't published anything since 2017, I hope that she continues writing and that we will one day get to experience more strong leading ladies and the men that challenge them in the future.

https://juliejames.com/blog/
https://www.goodreads.com/author/show/1647762.Julie_James"
