"3.5 stars out of 5<br/><br/>I was pleasantly surprised by this book, I did not expect to like not just one, but two couples’ love stories. I heard this was like “Persuasion” by Jane Austen and it did not disappoint. I really enjoyed the main storyline with Aline and McKenna, but I kind of liked Aline’s younger sister Livia’s storyline more. I liked the progression of Livia from a society shut in, into a social butterfly unknowingly falling in love with an older American lush, with far too much money and not enough responsibility. I found it more interesting than a childhood love lost because of different classes, it felt a bit cliche IMHO. However it was still well done for what it ending up being, trope-wise. <br/><br/>By the ending, it felt like I knew what was going to happen by the time they mentioned that he (McKenna) was going back to New York. I also would have liked more about the characters Mrs. Faircloth and Lord Sandridge (Adam), it didn’t feel like there was a satisfactory conclusion to both of their storylines. Overall, I look forward to continuing on in this series along with a dozen others from Lisa Kleypas that I heard were good/great."

"The first of the Wallflowers and....I liked it :)<br/><br/>I liked the secrets - McKenna's AND Aline's - and how they intertwined with each other's lack of ability to "face the odds" and end up together. That was the main theme of this entire book, overcoming life's obstacles to find true love. All 4 main characters (yes, there are 4 main characters and 2 love stories in this book *love*) had to overcome major struggles to come together with the loves of their life. Usually, there's ONE love story and they have to do that but Lisa threw us for a loop and threw TWO in there. That got me super-excited!<br/><br/>I also loved that this story didn't end up with the stereotypical "pregnancy" and/or "life with kids" epilogue (don't get me wrong - I LOVE that but it can be tiring after awhile) and was 6 months later. Loved the ending for Gideon & Livia - so excited for the next book!"
