NEW YORK TIMES BESTSELLER, NOW A MAJOR MOTION PICTURE “Gruesome yet poetic…highly original.” —The Seattle Times “Dark and funny.” —Wired “A mesmerizing evolution of a classic contemporary myth.” —Simon Pegg “A strange and unexpected treat…elegantly written, touching, and fun.” —Audrey Niffenegger, author of The Time Traveler’s Wife “Has there been a more sympathetic monster since Frankenstein’s?” —Financial Times In Warm Bodies, Isaac Marion’s New York Times bestselling novel that inspired a major film, a zombie returns to humanity through an unlikely encounter with love.“R” is having a no-life crisis—he is a zombie. He has no memories, no identity, and no pulse, but he is a little different from his fellow Dead. He may occasionally eat people, but he’d rather be riding abandoned airport escalators, listening to Sinatra in the cozy 747 he calls home, or collecting souvenirs from the ruins of civilization. And then he meets a girl. First as his captive, then his reluctant house guest, Julie is a blast of living color in R’s gray landscape, and something inside him begins to bloom. He doesn’t want to eat this girl—although she looks delicious—he wants to protect her. But their unlikely bond will cause ripples they can’t imagine, and their hopeless world won’t change without a fight.

"Another example of why you should read the book first. I am unsure if I like it because of the movie or the writing. The movie was very fun and cute and gross but it all worked together. Maybe I liked the book more because of that. Still the reason behind people turning into zombies was more of a metaphor than something that could actually be explained by science. So don't get hung up on the logistics. There isn't much character depth or world building this is kinda just made to be fun."
"Quick read. Not your normal love story"

"This was such a fun and unique read! I loved every second of it, and being only 256 pages, I was able to finish it in a couple hours. Don’t get me wrong, long books are great, but sometimes having a short but impactful novel is just what you need.

Warm Bodies follows R, a young zombie who struggles with what he is and the world that has come to be. By consuming the brain of a teenage boy, he gets flashbacks into the boy’s life, mainly of his first love, Julie. R soon becomes fascinated with Julie and as they become closer, R starts to experience impossible changes. Changes that could affect everything.

Having a zombie book with philosophical thoughts seems unbelievable, but Isaac Marion has accomplished this with great ease. Since R can only speak 1-2 words at a time, the majority of the narration is from his thoughts. Being inside R’s head was a prodigious experience that had mixtures of humor, contemplation, affection, and at times neurotic thoughts.

Overall, Warm Bodies was a heartwarming book that will forever be a favorite and that I will always recommend. ❤️"
"This was a great audiobook to listen to. It took me longer to get through than I wanted. I usually listen to my audiobooks around the 1.65 - 1.75 speed. For this one I slowed it down to the 1.25 speed set on Libby because I felt for the slow speech of a zombie, it was quite fitting with the atmospheric vibe since R was the narrator. I felt it unnecessary to speed up his speech. I did watch the movie when it first came out in theaters years ago and highly enjoyed it. That was before I realized it was based on the book. Now I want to go and watch the movie again to compare the two. I forgotten a lot of what happened in the movie except it took place at the airport.
I enjoyed the corny romance with the pop culture references. I liked how it had Romeo and Juliet sprinkled here and there through out the book. I love the Beatles, John Lennon and Frank Sinatra song references. A great entertaining read!

EDIT: Just watched the film adaptation the other day and I still enjoyed it. It was pretty similar to how the book was written with just dinner minor changes here and there like any film adaptation."
