Chiltern creates the most beautiful editions of the World's finest literature. Your favourite classic titles in a way you have never seen them before; the tactile layers, fine details and beautiful colours of these remarkable covers make these titles feel extra special and will look striking on any shelf. This book has matching lined and blank journals (sold separately). They make a great gift when paired together but are also just as beautiful on their own. Louisa May Alcott's Little Women follows the lives, loves and tribulations of four sisters (Meg, Jo, Beth and Amy) growing up during the American Civil War. The story is based on the childhood experiences Alcott shared with her real-life sisters, Anna, May and Elizabeth. The March family live in a small house next door to the Laurence mansion, where young Theodore Laurence, known as Laurie, and his aged grandfather have only each other for company. Old Mr. Laurence is wealthy, and he indulges every wish of his grandson, but often Laurie is lonely. When the lamps are lit and the shades are up in the March house, he can see the four March sisters, with their mother in the center, seated around a cheerful fire. He learns to know them by name before he meets them, and, in his imagination, he almost feels himself a member of the family. Alcott intricately explores the rich nuances of family and family relationships with each character. Avid Alcott readers often identify in themselves one of the four sisters at various phases in their own lives. It's a perfect story for Christmas, or any time of year; a fine example of Romanticism. ** The Chiltern edition of Little Women contains the original first part story. A beautiful edition of the second part of the story called Good Wives is also available **

"I have never read such a beautiful and pleasant book. I often told people that while reading it, I needed to be in a warm meadow, surrounded by butterflies and wearing a floppy hat. This book is uniquely domestic and perfectly intertwines a God-centered home with very human faults, worries, and ambitions.
I was surprised at how much I found myself thinking about the matron of the house, Marmee. As a recent mother, her model of parenthood is when I will continually think about as I raise my own children. Her compassion, patience, and humility all struck a deep chord within me.
This is a very character driven book that makes you fall in love. I’ve never encountered a book that involves so many real faulty, genuine characters. I can’t believe I haven’t read this book sooner and yet I feel like this was the perfect time in my life to read it.
This book, though not considered “Christian fiction”, grounded me in a relationship with God in a way I did not expect. I found a deeper love for motherhood and a new, childlike faith toward the Father. I would highly recommend this book to any new mother.
My favorite quote from reading was not from the book, but my husband who said “Your desire to bake bread has gone up exponentially while reading this book”. 😂
5/5 stars"
"Which version? 😂. The new one with Emma Watson was good! "
