INTERNATIONAL BESTSELLER Working at the local processing plant, Marcos is in the business of slaughtering humans—though no one calls them that anymore. His wife has left him, his father is sinking into dementia, and Marcos tries not to think too hard about how he makes a living. After all, it happened so quickly. First, it was reported that an infectious virus has made all animal meat poisonous to humans. Then governments initiated the “Transition.” Now, eating human meat—“special meat”—is legal. Marcos tries to stick to numbers, consignments, processing. Then one day he’s given a gift: a live specimen of the finest quality. Though he’s aware that any form of personal contact is forbidden on pain of death, little by little he starts to treat her like a human being. And soon, he becomes tortured by what has been lost—and what might still be saved.

"Wow! Crazy book! It’s got some similarities to animal farm but it’s completely original. It talks about issues today in society, which are current such as environmental issues and ‘fitting into the norm’. It has some stuff similar to the quarantine, it’s like no book ever written. Corrupted politicians and government systems, just everything including veganism! #horror #thriller #argentina #españoltoenglish #translated #book"
"Finally got this book! The whole time I just felt like I was in a dark tunnel or thinking of Gotham city. the overall darkness of the possibility in another dimension this happening in our world, especially after going through a pandemic. What got me the most was how a human being will not only acclimate to such horrific changes but enjoy the dispare and brutality of others."
"🤔 a dystopian novel very good very eye-opening #dystopian #literary #dystopian_fiction "

"In a world where classism exist and depending on your class you are either food for higher rank or you are the higher rank, a guy who is used to killing many people and basically a serial killer, sees one day a random person who is meat as an almost person and gets with her and has a baby with her and then murder her, all so his wife can have a child. "She was becoming too human" is basically the end line. It's supposed to come across as some kind of veganism message but really it's zoophilia rap3 instead."
"This kind of dystopian story is fun to read because it’s thought-provoking in an obvious way. To be clear, the subject matter is NOT FUN and is disturbing. Trigger warnings abound. The author gradually primes you with one disturbing thing after the next until you get to the most horrific part of the book. If you can handle the first 50 pages, you should be able to get through the entire thing. My copy was only 209 pages and it reads quickly. Overall, I like the main character and what we discover about him in the end. I like the message it sends. I like that it makes me look inward at my own moral compass. "
"I feel like reading this book fundamentally chamged me. Im not sure how yet because I need to think for a while and mull over it but it changed me. It was horrific and tragic and at one point I even sympathized with the villain, then the ending just shocked me to my core. It shook me and honestly fit the dystopian theme."
