"Three young attractive women, three timelines hundreds of years apart come crashing together in a dangerous whirlwind of chances. Three lives entwined in kind.

Maria - 1532 - Santo Domingo de la Calzada, La Rioja, Spain
Young, beautiful, and trapped in a loveless marriage to a powerful yet disgusting man who sees her as a possession. Never to feel love, pleasure, or happiness, and only a means to satisfy his lust and give him as many heirs as possible. Until she meets a woman who offers her a way out, but doesn't explain how and ultimately must figure it out on her own.

Charlotte - 1827 - London, England
A carefree young lady living on her families estate who gives into a temptation of forbidden intimacy and is caught, causing her to be shipped off to London. Wanting nothing to do with making a match at social gatherings for young couples to court one another, she finds solace in a young widow who shows her there is more to life than being a typical housewife and mother. Everything is wonderful, until it isn't.

Alice - 2019 - Boston, Massachusetts USA
Running from Scotland to attend College abroad in hopes to change her life and forget the loss that plagues her everyday, it was hard to fit in as a European with no friends or acquaintances. Until one night she decides to go to a party and met a beautiful young women who was about to change her life forever.

A story about women's oppression, expectant behavior of status, and trapped in situations they wish to escape. There is tragedy, beauty, hope, acceptance, friendship, fear, and great loss. It bounces between these women's lives, all who had good times, and bad. Through it all, they learn, live, laugh, love, cry and evolve. This was a fantastic read, and I am glad I stuck with it as it started off a bit slow but as it progressed, the characters came to life. I really enjoyed it.

It's more of a 4.5 but since Goodreads doesn't do quarter ratings I rounded up."

"The three storylines were woven together so well. I loved the full character audio narration. I did find Alice’s story slightly less interesting than Sabine and Lottie’s, but overall it was the necessary piece in the tragic & tangled web of S & L’s love story."
