Jandy Nelson
Jandy Nelson's beloved, critically adored debut is now an Apple TV+ and A24 original film starring Jason Segel, Cherry Jones, Grace Kaufman, and Jacques Colimon.“Both a profound meditation on loss and grieving and an exhilarating and very sexy romance." —NPRAdrift after her sister Bailey’s sudden death, Lennie finds herself torn between quiet, seductive Toby—Bailey’s boyfriend who shares Lennie’s grief—and Joe, the new boy in town who bursts with life and musical genius. Each offers Lennie something she desperately needs. One boy helps her remember. The other lets her forget. And she knows if the two of them collide, her whole world will explode. As much a laugh-out-loud celebration of love as a nuanced and poignant portrait of loss, Lennie’s struggle to sort her own melody out out the noise around her makes for an always honest, often uproarious, and absolutely unforgettable read.

"I like this book; it really encapsulates grief, love, joy, and sensuality. With this though, the writing is definitely a little bit more sophisticated than what I would usually find in a YA book. The characters themselves are also rather sophisticated. They go through everyday emotions and I love the rawness of the story and the beauty of Joe and Lennie, but I don’t know a lot of teenagers that are like that, especially being one myself. Similarly, the poems Lennie writes are great and definitely have meaning, but it still felt a little bit out of my realm. It is a great book, but I just couldn’t totally get into it. "

"this book tried to kill me. it is an emotional roller coaster. it made me uncomfortable to the point where i needed to take breaks from reading, i got so frustrated with the characters that i wanted to yell at them, i smiled from how cute it is, and i cried upwards of a dozen times. read at your own risk."
"Please do, I don’t recommend the movie though "

"This book is really good for sitting with after a long day. It expresses love as a crazy experience, but totally worth it for the right person. This book showed that there are different types of love. And it's important to know the difference between them. "
