New York Times bestseller Amy Tintera’s YA fantasy trilogy blends the romance of Kiera Cass’s Selection series and the epic stakes of Victoria Aveyard’s Red Queen in a story of revenge, adventure, and unexpected love.Emelina Flores has nothing. Her home in Ruina has been ravaged by war; her parents were killed and her sister was kidnapped. Even though Em is only a useless Ruined—completely lacking any magic—she is determined to get revenge. Her plan is simple: She will infiltrate the enemy’s kingdom, posing as the crown prince’s betrothed. She will lead an ambush. She will kill the king and everything he holds dear, including his son. The closer Em gets to the prince, though, the more she questions her mission. Her rage-filled heart begins to soften. But with her life—and her family—on the line, love could be Em’s deadliest mistake.

"OMFG!!! What a wild ride!!! Pretty dark (give me ALL the TW’s) and the spice was TOP TIER!

This was written so incredibly well. I definitely think this is going to be one of those books that I wish I could read for the first time again.

I cannot wait for Haven’s book to be released.

I received an advance review copy for free, and I am leaving this review voluntarily."
"I read this book because the blurb I read on facebook in a KU add made me think oo this book will be great. I am a special education teacher who works with students on the autism spectrum and I am struggling through infertility after multiple pregnancy losses. This book should have come with a trigger warning or a heads up of some kind that it dealt with sensitive topics.

That being said, the infertility storyline although difficult for me to read was not where I struggled. A man telling a woman what to do with her body and the woman even allowing that to be said is a problem for me. The way Hunter spoke about his sister was very difficult for me to read. Growing up with a sibling with special needs, I completely understand and can relate to the difficulties of being the other sibling, but never did Hunter see the positives and the special abilities that his sister has. He viewed his sister as something he could throw money at to have maintained..

I did come around to Hunter after the first sonogram when he fell inlove with his unborn child, and from that point on I did enjoy the emotional rollercoaster of the story.

My reasons for a one star review:

1. I didn't like how the sister was referred to as "autistic", she's a person WITH autism. It was very rare that anything positive was said or shown about her.
2. The writing style. Everything was in third person, and I would have preferred each chapter be from Hunter or Kara's POV. The writing for me though was difficult to get through. Something like losing a child often gets me in hysterics and I wasn't able to cry for Ryan just because I didn't feel any attachment to him probably because the first half of the book Hunter made it clear Ryan wasn't wanted.
3. For those who have dealt with infertility, IVF, ect.. you would know it is impossible to do an egg retrieval during a C-section. Follicles have to mature in order to be retrieved.
4. I'll say again my biggest struggle with the story was Hunter thinking he could tell Kara what to do with her body and her and his friends and even his parents not telling him it's not his choice. He was told he had to support her choice but never how wrong he was for trying to dictate what she should do with her body.

Overall, the story was cute, but nothing I'd recommend to anyone, definitely not on my must read again list. I'm happy I read it, but happier I managed to finish it."
