The chilling story of the abduction of two teenagers, their escape, and the dark secrets that, years later, bring them back to the scene of the crime. It's senior-year spring break, and Noelle Meyer and Evan Sinclair have been kidnapped. Neither knows why they were chosen, only that they share a tragic past: Evan's father got away with killing Noelle's mother, effectively ruining her family when the death was ruled an accident. Despite the connection that should have made them enemies, the teens instead unite to face their other common denominator--their abductors. Noelle and Evan survive one sadistic circumstance after another, eventually making a harrowing escape. But every happy ending comes at a price... Years later, Evan, now a private investigator, revisits the crime when he learns it may be ongoing. He reaches out to Noelle for help, and they discover that the answers lie with a man known only as the Collector. To close their case and solve the ones that followed, Noelle and Evan must unmask this mysterious spectator--the only man who knows enough secrets to take their captors down.

"I tried so hard to love this book but I just couldn’t get immersed into it. The concept was great but everything just felt so shallow and the weirdest parts were drawn out. I honestly wish I had DNF’d this book, I kept reading thinking it was going to get better and it never did… "

"Warning, prepare for a stream of thoughts that I didn’t even bother to clean up at all and make into any sort of respectable review…

Why is Noelle so incredibly unfair to Evan? Why does she keep holding him accountable for things that happened with his father and her mother? How is that his fault?
I don’t really feel the romance from her side. We see it from Evan’s side and he actively thinks about it quite often in his POV, but Noelle never really does other than to acknowledge a look he’s giving her or to acknowledge that he’s a handsome guy, like twice. She just avoids him and thinks about avoiding him. The collector is hands down the best character in the entire book. Honestly, he’s better than the majority from the books I’ve read in at least the last year. His final scene was not up to his standards though. Not the very end of it, anyway. The rest was *chef’s kiss*

NEEDS MORE TILLY"

"I think more of a 4.5. While the romance aspect was discussed between the characters thoroughly, the admission that they love each other felt like it came out of nowhere. BUT, the plot??? I was invested. I think I liked Bad Mother better, but the twists that the author included was riveting and kept you pinned to the story. Love Mia Sheridan thrillers."
