" I was leaning towards thinking I’d probably hate this book with so many reviewers thinking it crass and annoying. Well I didn’t hate it but it did occur to me more than once that I was enjoying a book version of a Lifetime movie. The thing is I agree with all the reviews, both good and bad..so I’m going with 3⭐️ maybe 3.5. What can I say 🤷♀️"
"This story would’ve been so much better if the characters weren’t so damn despicable and unlikeable! Sarah, a keen, cutthroat, pistol of a woman and lawyer takes on her husband’s case. Her husband, Adam, is accused of allegedly murdering his mistress, Kelly Summers. He places all his faith in Sarah to help him in his critical time of urgent need. He has got himself into a right mess that could damage the entirety of his future. His punishment is high, life-or-death stakes and really the greatest killer of all.
Told in alternating perspectives, between Sarah and Adam, we come to see the splinters in a rather loveless, dispassionate marriage. Adam feels undervalued and not seen by Sarah, who works long, grueling hours, and has no more energy left to give in the spare moments she is free. He can’t go on like this so he goes behind Sarah’s back for a love to lose himself in, one he thinks is simpler and purer. He falls head-over-heels in fact until it all gets too real. He is a writer and romanticizer after all, penning a love story as he goes with Kelly until she turns up dead. Nothing is the same after as he reaches his boiling point for being relentlessly questioned while proclaiming himself unquestionably an innocent man. He desperately wants his name cleared so he can go back to life as he knew it, but will justice rule in his favor? Who genuinely has his best interests at heart? This story goes some messy and engaging places, with Adam measuring his life before and after Kelly, I just wish I could’ve felt more for the ultimate outcome of the characters. "
"I read this in one day. I couldn’t put it down. Great characters and especially a hateful mother in law! Definitely twisty and I didn’t see the exact ending coming. Loved it!"
