"Easy Rawlins, a black war vet that was just laid off from his job, takes a gig as a private investigator and must locate a woman that hangs in black jazz clubs. What Easy doesn’t know is that finding Miss Daphne comes with a load of trouble. This is the first Walter Mosley novel I’ve read and I truly enjoyed it. I especially appreciated Easy’s development. He started out very green, not really knowing how to maintain a level of discretion that P.I. work entails but as the book goes on, he learns he needs to be more secretive about things. I would recommend this to someone who loves historical fiction (this book takes place in the 1940s) and is looking to ease into the mystery genre. I'm definitely going to keep reading the series!<br/>"
