The instant #1 New York Times bestseller! Did you miss him? Admit it, you missed him. The demon that terrorized Gravity Falls is back from the great beyond to finally tell his side of the story in The Book of Bill, written by none other than Bill Cipher himself. Inside, Bill sheds light on his bizarre origins, his sinister effects on human history, the Pines family's most embarrassing secrets, and the key to overthrowing the world (laid out in a handy step-by-step guide). This chaotic and beautifully illustrated tome contains baffling riddles, uncrackable ciphers, lost Journal 3 pages, ways to cheat death, the meaning of life, and a whole chapter on Silly Straws. Alex Hirsch, #1 New York Times bestselling author, resuscitates this infamous villain and invites fans to a Bill's eye view of the Gravity Falls universe. There are many who believe this book is too dangerous for human hands. But if you can't resist, just know this- Once you make a deal with Bill, it's not so easily undone . . . Beware- This book travels to dimensions meant for older readers.

"4.5
I laughed out loud while reading this. It was a great time. Some parts just felt like random ideas Alex Hirsch wanted to write in Bill’s POV, but a majority of it felt important. It plays with the fact that it’s a book and breaks the fourth wall very well. I haven’t had an interactive experience while reading like this in a long time. If you’ve seen Gravity Falls, read this. If you haven’t, start watching it and come back to me.

The art is good, the emotional investment is worth it, the tongue and cheek comments are great, it’s self aware in multiple aspects, it continues the story from the Gravity Falls finale in a fun way, and it has bunch of ideas that only land because it’s a book written by Bill. This would not work the same in any other medium which makes me respect the intention behind the jokes and references even more. And it is for a more mature audience than the show, but it’s not at all a complete tonal shift into graphic horror. It feels like a very natural progression and exploration of things they couldn’t animate.

I got this in the mail and immediately started reading it. It would’ve been very easy to convince me to read it in one sitting, but unfortunately, I didn’t have enough time to. I loved the sections taken from the journal. There was a strong focus on the abusive relationship dynamic between Ford and Bill and how manipulative and isolating it was. I think their psychology was explored pretty well. Bill was a believably scary presence, and I enjoyed the extra glimpse into that part of the story. It made me care even more about the characters.

I will have to see what other people have done to decode the book because it’s been so long since I’ve seen the show, I don’t remember how to investigate it anymore. This has brought me back to that feeling Gravity Falls gave me when things weren’t explained yet and all we had were theories and codes to crack. It’s such a fun series, and I love that this book added lore and mysteries to bring it back to life.

Gonna go to Confusion Hill now for no reason in particular, don’t worry about me."
