Sarah MacLean
New York Times bestselling author Sarah MacLean returns with a blazingly sexy, unapologetically feminist new series, Hell's Belles, beginning with a bold, bombshell of a heroine, able to dispose of a scoundrel--or seduce one--in a single night. After years of living as London's brightest scandal, Lady Sesily Talbot has embraced the reputation and the freedom that comes with the title. No one looks twice when she lures a gentleman into the dark gardens beyond a Mayfair ballroom...and no one realizes those trysts are not what they seem. No one, that is, but Caleb Calhoun, who has spent years trying not to notice his best friend's beautiful, brash, brilliant sister. If you ask him, he's been a saint about it, considering the way she looks at him...and the way she talks to him...and the way she'd felt in his arms during their one ill-advised kiss. Except someone has to keep Sesily from tumbling into trouble during her dangerous late-night escapades, and maybe close proximity is exactly what Caleb needs to get this infuriating, outrageous woman out of his system. But now Caleb is the one in trouble, because he's fast realizing that Sesily isn't for forgetting...she's forever. And forever isn't something he can risk.

"Didn't finish it stopped about halfway through the book. Many things I didn't like. Firstly, it's book 2 of a series but kept refering to characters and I looked up multiple times to confirm that it was #1 in the series befote realizing that she included characters from previous books and previous series. So I was a bit confused sometimes. Didnt like it. Second, I really disliked Secily, she felt a bit pick me with the ehole "feminist" not like other girls does what she wants. It wasn't feminist, in fact it was annoying. Also Caleb was like very back and forth. Like "I want her but I can't have her but I want her but I need to stay away but I want her but..." like bruh. Third, the storyline/plot was lost on me. For one, didn't know this was a smutty book so that was minus for me. And the plot of the book felt lost withing the romance or whatever. Another thing. Completely historically inaccurate. Like obviously it's fiction and I dont need details to exactly match but this felt like there was no research done into the time period. The clothing described as well as the personalty of the main characters and how society acted was just inaccurate. I don't pick up a historical fiction novel to read about a 30 year old who doesn't want to have kids, there are dozens of modern books like that. I want the feeling that comes with the history and the innocence and just a slight accuracy to the times.

"I think I am an outlier with this, but I loved this.

In a post Roe v Wade world, I don’t super want to read about the oppression of women and them finding little ways to enjoy themselves. I want brash and brazen women living life out loud and by their own rules and that is what Bombshell was. Perhaps that means that I am not the key demo for a historical romance, but whatever. If I wanted historical accuracies, I would read lit fic. And, as a girl who spent majority of her life exclusively reading lit fic, I can enjoy that world. But, that’s not what this was. This was a great romance that lowkey felt like if Guy Ritchie teamed up with Shonda Rhimes wrote a historical. It was great fun. Screw historical accuracy.

Honorable mention to one of the best yearns I have read! I swooned. I yelled. I threw my kindle across the room. Great time."
