Elisabeth Elliot
In her first year as a missionary to a small group of native women in the Ecuadorian jungle, Elisabeth Elliot faced physical and spiritual trials. In Made for the Journey, Elliot captures the mysteries and stark realities surrounding the colorful and primitive world in which she ministered. More than just a recounting of her early days, this is a beautifully crafted and deeply personal reflection on the important questions of life and a remarkable testimony to authentic Christian obedience to God.

""Made for the Journey", which was previously titled "These Strange Ashes" (a much better title, in my opinion), is Elisabeth Elliot remembering her first years as a missionary, 40 years after having lived them.

As a long-time admirer of Elisabeth Elliot's work, I was pleased to know more of her beginnings and see her being more vulnerable than in any other of her books I've read so far. In MFTJ, Elisabeth narrates her jungle life while also using her wisdom and poetic pen to intertwine some beautiful lessons.

The best part of this work is to learn with Elisabeth that being obedient in doing God's work does not mean said work will be successful. What a humbling thing."
