The medical staff seems friendly enough, but something feels...off. As the days pass, Ethan's investigation into the disappearance of his colleagues turns up more questions than answers. Why can't he get any phone calls through to his wife and son in the outside world? Why doesn't anyone believe he is who he says he is? And what is the purpose of the electrified fences surrounding the town? Are they meant to keep the residents in? Or something else out? "I just love "dudebro who gets concussed every 2 seconds which makes him super Tough and Cool because despite being unable to block any hit he survives which means he's so alpha and special" books. Especially ones where sentences are written as if the reader has the attention span of a goldfish and can't absorb more than 3 words between a capital letter and a period for an extended period of time. Oh, and ESPECIALLY books that want to pretend they're talking about Real Science by using big words, and are written in a way that suggests something is true that isn't. Like I am not opposed to scifi stretching the truth about biology/physics/whatever but adding in explanatory paragraphs that make it seem like the plot point follows real scientific principles, something that can be proven false with a google search shorter than one of Crouch's sentence fragments? I'm getting Andromeda Strain flashbacks fr "
"A thrilling read with so much mystery that is a treat to see start to unfold. Some of the characters are just so quirky and unique. As things unfold, their ways make more sense. Book 1 of the Wayward Pines trilogy was a joy to read. Will definitely continue on with Wayward, book 2. Wonderful to read and be thankful to not be in the situation in the pines."
"3.5⭐️ short, fast-paced and just the beginning of the story. Not sure why the POW backstory is necessary but maybe that will come up later. "

"Quick & fluffy. Reads like a Twilight Zone episode with drawn out fight scenes. I'm unlikely to read further."
