"Oh, this was so good! When I finished, I had such a satisfied and nostalgic feeling! I had read Anne of Green Gables so many times that I've memorized it, especially specific scenes and it was great to read a manga adaptation.

The very best part was how accurate this was. It did skip some (tedious flowery but still interesting) spots that were in the book, but it stayed very very faithful to the other scenes included down to the very wording. I really loved seeing their interpretation of Gilbert and his angst with Anne. It was quality.

Almost everyone is drawn in a cute way. The only exception to this were some of the elderly that had a strange eye shape. They were trying for semi-realism but they got creepy. I loved seeing Anne and Diana in their cutesy anime girl art style! Gilbert's character design threw me off since I pictured him completely different but I got used to him fast.

I'd love if the same people did adaptations of books 2 and 3 too! It would be amazing to see Anne and Gilbert go to college.

**Thanks NetGalley and the publisher for the ARC!!**"

"This is definitely on my list. Currently I am reading Mother of Invention and Parable of the Sower. Highly recommend both!"

"This review is solely about this particular edition of Anne of Green Gables, not the classic itself. Also, Goodreads only lists the hardcover version of this book, but I am reviewing the e-ARC.

When I first requested this e-ARC, I was excited to see Barbara Heller’s rendition of the character letters and mementos alongside the original story. However, upon receiving the e-ARC, I was disappointed to find that none of those aforementioned special features are included; instead, there are just blank spaces for where the mementos would be upon publication. I even flipped through every single page of the book to double check. Therefore this is a DNF for now since I can’t provide as accurate of a review as I would’ve liked.

With that being said, the reason why this isn’t a 1 star (like my typical DNFs) is because I have confidence that the hard copy publication is as stunning as I imagine it would be. (And you can’t go wrong with a story as beloved as Anne of Green Gables.) So I would go out and peruse a hard copy of this book to see for yourself.

Special thanks to NetGalley and Chronicle Books for providing this e-ARC in exchange for my honest review.

Anne of Green Gables: The Complete Novel, Featuring the Characters' Letters and Mementos, Written and Folded by Hand by Barbara Heller; L. M. Montgomery is available now."
