"This book is about John Brown, the abolitionist who raided Harper's Ferry, and a young slave named Henry Shackleford, whom John Brown named Onion and had to dress as a girl to escape. I had a hard time getting into this book, but all of a sudden after 50 pages or so, it drew me in and I couldn't put it down. It has a lot of true history in it (the raid at Harper's Ferry and the characters in the book, although the book is fiction). I was continually smiling and chuckling, as there was a lot of funny sayings and funny things that happened to Onion. This book was an exceptional book, and I will have to put it in my top 10 favorite books I've read of all time. I highly recommend this book. Hopefully you will enjoy it as much as I did."
