Is this book appropriate? I don’t like s*x, and only want little to no language, and no lgbtq characters if possible. It sounds so good but I don’t know if it’s appropriate

Iman I did some research and it says it’s a appropriate for kids 13+ there’s kissing but nothing to extreme.

Sarah Ortinau This book has been out for close to ten years, which means it should be on Storygraph and Goodreads so you can check the reviews. This is like Ally Sheely dumping out her purse in The Breakfast club and then getting mad at Emilio Estavez when he points out that she dumped out her purse and invited everyone into her problems. Is there a reason you can’t look up reviews?

Sarah Ortinau I’m not being rude. I’m being intolerant. I’m also not really for the obvious homophobic comments that she continues to make on this app. Because if this was a one time thing, it would be one thing, but it’s not. I don’t tolerate anyone being intolerant, not in my classroom, not with my friends, and not with my family (who were the most Catholic of the Catholics, who did end up changing their view points because of me). Also, I’m not the only person who has said something, multiple people have said something, others have reported this behavior and flagged it as homophobia. I’m also not even the first person to tell her to look it up on Storygraph, at this point it is her creating own problems. Also, there are private groups on this app, where if you have to be bigoted, you can ask them, instead of dragging it on to the main page.

Sarah Ortinau I don’t believe you at this point, because YOU’VE SAID THAT BEFORE. Put into practice what it teaches you in the Bible, “Faith without action is dead faith.” Start putting into practice what you should say. Also, you really should apologize, because this discussion, is disrespectful and really awful. One of your friends was intentionally hurtful and rude, and while you cannot control the actions of others, YOU GAVE HER A PLATFORM TO BE OPENLY BIGOTED TOWARDS a group of people that have done NOTHING TO HER. Also, don’t just say “I’m sorry” and move on, actually take accountability.

Savannah Baggett I did a bit of research for you and found that there is a gay man in the third book of the series. A Winner’s Kiss. His name is Roshar

Julz Does his sexuality play into the book much? Is it talked about a lot that he’s gay? I have read the cruel prince series so if it’s like that or less I am ok.

Ebru What the heck does "his sexuality play into the book" mean?? Is there some expectation that once someone's queer, they're gonna mention it every other line, be hypersexual, dress and/or behave in stereotypical fashion, or some other ridiculous nonsense, and you're "trying to avoid the harmful rhetoric of queerness"?

Emily Wachter This book and the whole series is closed door romance. There’s only one “sex” scene in the whole series (in the third one) and it’s closed door so you don’t have graphic detail. There’s one gay character, but it’s not like the defining thing about him and they only discuss his sexuality once. They don’t go into detail about his sexual exploits or even his orientation. I would say this series is very appropriate
