Gigi According to Tolkien's works (Lord of the Rings, The Hobbit, etc.) elves were omnivores but there were some that chose to be vegetarians like the Green-elves of Ossiriand.

Brandon Reed I like that Paolini's elves (from Eragon and its sequels) are vegetarians for a reason. The reason is that they're mind readers, and it's disturbing to eat the meat of something whose mind you've read.
