Sam L.Β While I lament the lack of any original ideas from Hollywood, Tom Cruise pulled off a successful Top Gun sequel, so I have a glimmer of hope that this might be good. But my goodness, Hollywood needs to figure out how to fix the creative bankruptcy they are mired in.

Errika MasonΒ Yes. I absolutely hear your loud call for creativity, Sam. I certainly echo it. I wish Hollywood would put out something entirely new, but nostalgia is all over the place. I believe that the movie will be good because of the entertainment team behind him. Race car drivers also want to be a part of it, as if the film will revitalize the racing industry. We will see what happens next.

Errika MasonΒ Yep, so true, Craig. I have watched the original "Days" dozens of times over the decades it was released. It is pulse pounding fun, and camera and drone footage can capture so much more now. Racers, start your engines! ποΈ

Craig S.Β Absolutely! And fyi they were even talking about a crossover with F1 possibly at one point. I haven't seen F1 yet, but it looks pretty spectacular and people seem to like it. Either way....more Cole Trickle!!

RyanΒ His film is with Inarritu (The Revenant, Birdman, Biutiful) and is supposed to be out next October. The summary is (you canβt make this up): The most powerful man in the world causes a disaster and embarks on a mission to prove that he is the savior of humanity. Top Gun 3 and Days of Thunder are both in development, so Iβll be curious which way he goes next after the Inarritu movie.

Errika MasonΒ This is fantastic, Ryan! I laughed π out loud for awhile after reading your post. Thank you for that. Oh, man!! π³ The description fits Tom's ideas about himself perfectly. Even his ex-wife, Nicole Kidman said that Tom felt as if he could bring the entire movie theater π₯ industry back to pre-covid capacity. She said: He isn't the savior of the movie industry... π² Wow. Spot on, Ryan!! Spot on!! πππ

RyanΒ Birdman had aspects of Michael Keaton parodying his career. The Cruise film is listed as an action/comedy. I would hope he has SOME self awareness and heβs going to be poking fun at himself here. After Final Reckoning, I donβt know, it seems like heβs fully drinking his own Kool-Aid.

Errika MasonΒ Oh, definitely. Birdman was a very self-aware film, I agree. I truly hope that you are correct about Cruise's project. Some humility would go really far...ππ
