Teenager Riley's mind headquarters is undergoing a sudden demolition to make room for something entirely unexpected: new Emotions! Joy, Sadness, Anger, Fear and Disgust, who’ve long been running a successful operation by all accounts, aren’t sure how to feel when Anxiety shows up. And it looks like she’s not alone.

"I was going to watch this with my boyfriend, but when his roommate started watching it, it didn't seem like his cup of tea. His roommate raved about it. I can see why he liked it knowing some of his background, but it wasn't my cup of tea. And supposedly Riley is gay, but none of that was in the movie so they lied to get views, which is extremely cruel. Disney is a terrible company. "
"Not quite as good as the first but still pretty good. It's a fairly accurate portrayal of growing up and dealing with more complex emotions. The movie does however get a little convoluted with how the emotions literally control Riley's mind and body but overall it works. My favorite thing about the Inside Out movies are what we can take away from the lessons Joy learns in each one.

" I enjoy all of Riley's new emotions, and many of them are used well in the film. The movie even shows more of the world of Riley's emotions. The story was good and has a great message, but I think the story should have been portrayed differently, as a higher-stakes situation involving Riley's hockey."
"Inside Out 2. Let me sum it up. Stop me if you've heard this one before. A young girl's behavior goes haywire when her emotions get out of whack due to a number of them (one or more of which were believed to be unnecessary) being sent from the part of the brain that controls emotion to another part of the brain from which they can't do their job. The wayward emotions go on a buddy-journey through the girl's psyche to get back to their post in the limbic system so they can put the girl back on the right path. Meanwhile, we see the results of the emotional mayhem play out in the girl's life, with her careening through bad decisions that will result in very negative outcomes if not corrected. The emotions, in their travels, learn that all emotions serve important roles in life, and they also learn the importance of the girl being in touch with her full self. The emotions all learn to get along and respect each other for their differences.
What's that? You've heard it before? It's the plot of Inside Out 1? Well, by golly, it's the plot of Inside Out 2, as well!
In the sequel's defense, I liked Inside Out 1. Pixar could've done worse than giving us more of the same. At the same time, though, they probably could have done better. There are new gags, many of which are funny. However, there's not much else that's new, and some of the old isn't handled as well. For instance, from a narrative standpoint, one of the new trappings is Riley's belief system, but it basically fills the same role as the personality islands from the first film. However, the personality islands slowly crumbled as Riley's behavior changed, adding to the tension by putting a ticking clock on. The entire belief system is supplanted at once in Inside Out 2 (which makes no sense from a psychological standpoint), which really reduces it to a MacGuffin.
In short, Inside Out 2 is serviceable as a lower-stakes rehashing of its predecessor. However, it's just good, which is a huge dip from greatness. "
