"I watched this film on September 23, 2025. I am truly torn at rating this either 3 stars or 4 stars. Let me explain why. The characters surrounding Corenswet as Superman are subpar, over the top, even annoying, or don't get much screen time. So many characters are winked 😉 at, and underused. I found Rachel Brosnahan competent as Lois Lane, but not great. David Corenswet is an okay Superman, but he is mostly a man, not confident in himself. I just don't feel convinced by his performance. I am so sorry. In trying to make a new era of the superhero, the director gives us a weaker Superman. We don't get to see much of Wendell Pierce as Perry, who is usually a large part of the Metropolis news agency. Skyler Gisondo as Jimmy Olsen was pretty good, but not seen as a heartthrob as the movie wants him to be. It was good to see him, since I hadn't seen him in anything since the Night at the Museum movies. That is why I see this as a 3 star movie: an uneven cast. The reason I see this movie as 4 stars is the following: Nicolas Holt as Lex Luthor was pitch perfect as an incredible villain. Edi Gathegi was spot on as Mister Terrific, and Nathan Fillion was the image of Guy the Green Lantern. As most of these reviews typed, I loved Krypto. He looks cute, but he can be destructive, and quite useful. The best part of this movie is the Superhero/Villain best down in the last 30 minutes. I want more Mister Terrific, and in the next movie, a much more confident and better "Super" man. "
"‘Twas good — typical super hero movie. The addition of Krypto the Superdog was a fun touch, and the visual effects—especially in the first half—were absolutely amazing. It probably ran about 30 minutes too long, but overall, it was an enjoyable ride with a cast that brought good energy and chemistry to the screen. 👍🏾 "
"I've never really been a fan of DC characters, I much prefer Marvel. But like most people, I've seen all the live action Superman movies, from Christopher Reeves to Henry Cavill and everything in-between. I must say, this is the most entertaining version of Superman of them all. Not because of David Corenswet, though he did a fine job with the role. But because of the brilliant mind of James Gunn. His concept and storytelling gives a fresh feel to a classic character. The special effects are on point and cinematically, this is a beautiful looking film with great use of color. I also liked the addition of meta-human characters like Green Lantern (Guy Gardner), Hawkgirl, Mr. Terrific , and Metamorpho. I even like Nicholas Hoult as Lex Luthor. Initially I was annoyed by Krypto the Superdog but by the end he made it fun. I wish that James Gunn had directed Henry Cavill in this because I believe he was the best looking Superman and that would have made for an excellent pairing. But as it stands, this movie was way better than I expected and definitely the best of all the Superman movies IMO. 8/10"
"4.25⭐️ Well for a while I thought it was kind of a mess but by the end I think I loved this SUPERMAN. It is about as 2025 as it gets which initially got on my nerves too, being my least favorite lifetime year to date, and movies have been a true escape. But soon appreciated the subtext, or really the smack right on the line text. It definitely roasts a lot of the zeitgeist, albeit a little cornily at times, but the ballsiness of Gunn is pretty inspiring. The cast, story, building of tension, action, and most of the vfx still make it a fun watch too. I do wish filmmakers would understand that it’s impossible to get invested in 100% cgi animals. I can’t seem to care much about what happens basically to a cartoon. I get it, it needs to be done in order to show scenes live animals can’t or shouldn’t be doing or to properly convey action and certain interactions. And most importantly that they (and humans) are not put in harm’s way. However there does need to be some real animal acting at times or there’s just no soul or emotional context to their presence. Anyhoo tangent aside, one of the better SUPERMAN remakes, reboots, sequels etc. I’m not quite sure yet but *think* Cavill’s still may be at the top of my list, original aside. Corenswet did win me over though, as did Rachel Brosnahan as Lois and Edi Gathegi as Mister Terrific 👍"
"The dog and Mr. Terrific saved this for me. Without it ..this rendition of "today's" superman would have really cut me to my core being an original fan of this franchise and superman being one of the first films i saw in the theatre and shaped my childhood. Also nicholas hoult was an amazing lex author but literally any thing went in this film and they wouldnt let him have his british accent???? And supergirl is hard partying foul mouthed nepo super baby now I guess?? Ok."
"This movie was enjoyable. The action was great. I loved the addition of Krypto the dog. Mr. Terrific gave what needed to be given. I thought there were some spots with lax writing. Like deciphering a language that no one knows from another planet. But overall this movie was funny and touching in places. My little kids absolutely loved it. The action was amazing. I'll rewatch this one. A"
