"A very good (and surprising hilarious) entry from Wes Anderson, with a surprisingly timely look at oligarchy and legacy told in his typical fashion. I was astounded by how I was engaged throughout, looking at a fictional oligarch character’s journey to pass his fortunes to his heir (a daughter who is training to be a nun). Phenomenal lead performance by Benicio Del Toro as the oligarch, who delivers both the dramatic and comedic moments with equal levels of effectiveness. He is supported by a stellar cast including Michael Cera (who plays his role and fits in with the Wes Anderson universe so effectively), Tom Hanks, Bryan Cranston and many more. Easily the standout among the supporting cast was Mia Therapleton (Kate Winslet’s real-life daughter) as the nun and heir, whose dry and deadpan delivery was so effective and perfect. This is such a great role to break out with, and I’m interested in seeing how her career progresses from here. Phenomenal production values and cinematography as usual as well. Worth a watch for sure."

"While this is unmistakably a Wes Anderson film, it veers away from his usual rigidly constructed pathos toward being a borderline madcap comedy. It’s the story of an unkillable international scoundrel (Del Toro) who tries to convince his nun daughter (Threapelton) to succeed him. The film is full of looney tunes-style sight gags (would you like a grenade?), comedic arguments and action sequences. The movie shows off its ridiculously stacked cast as Del Toro globe hops around to try and stop his final crowning masterplan from falling apart. I prefer Anderson’s more comedic stuff because I have trouble connecting to his highly-stylized characters, on an emotional level, and this is the most fun I’ve had with any of his movies. This one flew by and I give it a solid recommendation. 3.75 out of 5 Stars"

"It's a classic Wes Anderson film. It's quirky, darkly funny, dramatic and satirical. Did I understand what was going on half the time? No. Would I be thinking about it a week from now? No. But it was a good time killer. "

"I’m not the biggest Wes Anderson fanatic. Until now. When I saw that he did Isle of Dogs, one of my absolute top 3 favorite animated films of all time, (first two are spider-verse - I’m basic), I was super excited for this one. I missed out on Rocket City so I’m glad I got to see this one with its goofy artistic style and strong comical characters. It’s a beautifully crafted film that has deeper themes for the audience to reflect on while remaining entertaining throughout. 9/10"
