"I was surprised by the depth of this movie. On the surface, it seems simple, but it is obviously about the difference between sport and brutality. Are we spectators or voyeurs? What happens when a corporation dictates the lives and thoughts of everything surrounding the player? I am always drawn to James Caan's portrayal of an athlete trying to adapt to a sports entertainment system that is just as brutal to him physically as it is to his emotional life. "
