"4⭐️ NONNA’S takes food as love to the next level. So rich it’s aromatic, soaked in Italian warmth, ambience and its own magical secret sauce. This gentle movie is as heartwarming and sentimental as it gets, a balm for the soul and broken hearts. And.. a true story! Honestly I don’t care how much is actual fact, just knowing this place is out there existing somewhere in the cold world is enough to wrap my heart in a fleece lined snuggie.
Probably some will think this movie is sappy but the emotions feel sincere and genuine, not forced.
Hats off to the legendary nonnas who bring the essence, vivacity and nostalgia, and the rest of the wonderful cast too!
Watch this with your own nonnas, aunties, mothers and anyone else you love and nurture. "
"WARNING ⚠️ DO NOT WATCH THIS MOVIE ON AN EMPTY STOMACH!!! Soooo much amazing looking food!!!
This movie may not be for everyone, but I loved it!!! This one hit close to home for me. I was able to find little things from the Nonnas that reminded me of my own family. I'm from an Italian American background and even though we didn't call my grandmas "Nonna", you could definitely taste the love in their cooking and see the joy it brought them to feed us. So that alone warmed my heart.
The movie has a good pace to it with an amazing cast. Vince Vaughn, Lorraine Bracco, Talia Shire, Susan Sarandon, Brenda Vaccaro, Linda Cardellini, Joe Manganiello, and Drea de Matteo just to name a few. I loved the bickering between the Nonnas and then, ultimately, the sense of family unity between them. And it's all based on the true story of a restaurant that is still around in Staten Island, NY... It don't get better than that. Great movie. 9/10"
"A great get away movie. I loved seeing the food being made. If you get hungry then I suggest eating during it or before. The length felt reasonable … some of me believes it could have been shorter. I only recognized the ginger actor as one of the Nonnas. It was funny to see that all of the ladies knew where there families came from in Italy, but one of them just said the Bronx. I was surprised they didn’t write in somewhere later in the film that she would eventually reveal the location. Or twist, to reveal that her family wasn’t Italian. The real place in NY looks interesting. I thought it would be like a replica of the restaurant in the movie l, but it wasn’t. The real place looked small in size and also very narrow. I was just expecting something different I guess. "
