Like most of the people in her town, Karen Silkwood works at the local nuclear plant producing highly radioactive plutonium. Exposed one day to a lethal dose of radiation, Karen faces the blank walls of corporate indifference and denial. As her illness increases, her protest grows louder and she becomes an obvious danger to the powers that be.

"More frightening than a horror movie…from director Mike Nichols and writer Nora Ephron with Meryl Streep, Kurt Russell, Cher, plus a fabulous ensemble cast all at the top of their game in this 1983 true thriller. Karen Silkwood was a whistle-blower at a nuclear power plant in Oklahoma during the early 1970’s, whose death was under mysterious circumstances. Her life portrayed in the movie is relatively tragic as well. This is coming up on the 50th anniversary of her death. A powerful story definitely worth watching. Streaming now on Hulu."
