"Vanessa Kirby stars in this crime drama as a woman who repeatedly makes bad decisions over the course of one night, in hopes of getting $25,000 by morning so she can save her house for her special needs brother. It's a little bit bleak but like a car crash that you can't look away from, as the night spirals out of control. She deals with a wide array of seedy characters in her quest, and she is a bit shameful herself. There is a small supporting role from Jennifer Jason Leigh who plays her unsupportive mother. Definitely worth a watch. 7/10"
"4¼⭐ I had fun watching this crime/thriller/drama!! It surely kept my interest in always wanting to find out what's next for her... Plenty of unsavory, seedy, slimy, scary characters, which kept things quite interesting... Sure, certain parts may have been exaggerated, but I found that intensity entertaining. That's what made the movie imo. On the other hand, especially in the beginning, it sounded very realistic as to the struggles many face nowadays and may be triggering for some... After the bit of a downer part in the beginning, it got easier to take in some ways as things got going, and I just settled in for the rest of it, 👀 glued to the screen. BTW, I was SO VERY FRUSTRATED by Jennifer Jason Leigh's character‼️‼️‼️ (but of course in a good way as she contributed to the enjoyment of the movie, along with all those less-than-desirable creepy characters...)."
"This movie was absurd. How does one person make so many bad choices and not even think of the consequences of her actions or whom it may affect, especially her brother. Also, she knew her mom was a complete dead beat who didn’t show up the first time, why would you think she would be any different in the end. I get so frustrated watching movies like this sometimes. I guess a lot of people do really stupid things!!"
"Depressing movie. "

"There was no need for this to be 2 hours long. Did have a couple intense moments but still confused on why she chose to go through all that just to save a house that her mom clearly did not want to take out a loan for. It was all just unnecessary things she went through and to drag her autistic brother with her through it all until the morning?? The ending sucked. It was all just so pointless. "
"(Kinda spoilers ahead, also not really, lol) It keeps your attention all the way through as both the crimes and danger for our main character continue to escalate. A lot of people have commented on all her bad decisions made but I honestly don't see how else she could have gotten the money any faster... true, she is deeply flawed main character. However, with a traumatic past that she's still trying to break free from, her efforts we see in the beginning of the film to try in bettering herself, no none-shading frends or associates to rely on, and her genuine intentions to help keep her family together, you can’t help but to root for her. I believe one of the the core themes of this movie was, 'you need to learn when to step back and look out for yourself' and 'you can't constantly blame your past (or your parents) for how ever sh*tty your present may be.' And all that's true, however in defense to the main character, she was dealing with unresolved trauma from when she was kid that could have been avoided if it hadn't been for negligence by her parents. True, that she's an adult and it's her job now to take on the responsibility of healing... however as this movie tries to demonstrate, with the rise of poverty and the lack of jobs, opportunity, and access to essential care, (including for mental health), your survival instincts can be stripped down to its barest core until it's almost just you against the world."
