"I really enjoyed watching this thoughtful drama about the life of British adventurer and archaeologist Gertrude Bell. In the back drop of the upcoming Great War, or World War I, Bell traversed the Arabian desert to find more purpose in her life, and feed her growing desire and interest in Arabia and its people. Once she is given a guide to help learn the local language and customs, Gertrude's journey begins in earnest. I was actually impressed at the performance of James Franco, Gertrude's tutor and guide. Robert Pattinson stars as the British adventurer and officer T.E. Lawrence. I was entertained by his portrayal of the blunt and open-minded and intelligent archaeologist and politician. Although the pace of this film is somewhat slow, it is still fascinating to watch. The entire film are narrated letters and diary entries by Gertrude, and speaks of her connection with the Arabian people. "
"Ok admittedly the movie itself could have been better (too cliched, slow moving) but it’s worth watching if you’re unfamiliar with this remarkable British woman (basically the female Lawrence of Arabia in my mind). It gets far more interesting around 40 min so stick with it. "
