When Terry Griffith loses her high school's writing competition, she's convinced that it's because she's a girl. So Terry decides to change high schools and pose as a boy to prove her point. Her brother, Buddy, helps her pass as a guy so well that she is soon making friends with the boys at school, including the attractive Rick, who becomes her new best friend. But her gender-swapping makes things difficult when she falls in love with him.

"So very 80's. I know I saw this then but I recently rewatched it and it's not what I remembered. It is cool. It even addresses some social issues that still need work today. "

"As a trans man, I find this movie hilarious. She doesn't pass at all. Her food article was so boring that it makes sense why they didn't publish it. I've done that eraser advice mistake myself. The brother, although he's a creep, the advice he gives her is funny. The fact he constantly outs his sister and no one takes him seriously is funny too. I don't know how many times I've said something that was true and no one believed me and just continued on with their business. Just to be clear it is never ok to out someone. Its just funny in this movie given how the scenes are played out. "
