Legend of the Lost

"This movie is amazing. I had no idea until I saw this that Sophia Loren and John Wayne starred in a movie together, co-starring Rossano Brazzi. This film takes place in Timbuktu, and parts of the Sahara Desert. John Wayne plays the role of Joe January, a local drifter who is hard drinking, and treats women as possessions, and not people. Sophia plays Dita, a runaway who fell into a life of prostitution. After Rossano Brazzi, or Paul, an amateur archaeologist, presents the idea of an adventure to start her life over, she follows the two men into the desert to look for treasure. Along the way, long held desires come to bear. The acting is subtle, but absolutely excellent. Sophia gives a wonderful performance of a woman who has been emotionally beaten down by her life. "
