"I’m a sucker for space sci-if... and, this film (tho restricted in budget) features good acting from the lead characters and an intriguing story.
The Director smartly includes enough set design and effects to sell the setting/time period, while letting the human component drive the film.
Pleasant surprise."
"(2018) Prospect makes the most of its limited budget, creating a believable toxic wasteland setting. The cinematography effectively captures the harsh environment. Sophie Thatcher does a solid job as a young girl caught up in her dad's gem mining scheme on a distant planet. Things get complicated fast when other prospectors show up, and Pedro Pascal's character is part of the mix. However, this isn't his strongest performance. The real problem is the story…the characters feel underdeveloped, with no real backstory. We're thrown into the plot with barely any context, and it ends just as abruptly. 5/10"
"A surprisingly rich and detailed sci-fi drama about a young woman and her newly acquired travel partner. The film does a great job of quickly and easily introducing you to the world the characters inhabit, as well as the characters themselves - their wants, needs, and fears. As far as low budget science fiction goes, you can't ask for much better than this."
