"Starring Toshiro Mifune as Tajōmaru the bandit, Masayuki Mori as Takehiro Kanazawa, the samurai, Machiko Kyō as Masago, Kanazawa's wife, the story is seen from the testimony of three eyewitnesses, a wood cutter 🪵 🪓, a priest, and a commoner, all describing how a samurai was murdered in a forest, and his wife sexually assaulted, near a city gate called Rashomon. All of the said drama happens off-screen, so hopefully there are no triggers for anyone watching this. The story is unique in that each version of the story seems colored by the conscience of the eyewitness. Toward the end of the film, we as the viewer seem to see what really happened, and the consequences of the actions involved. Japanese audio. "
